Spent several days in DC, and toured Arlington Cemetery. Great place to go and appreciate those who made it all possible for us. Would appreciate feedback. The bugler is in a glass enclosure and my wife swore that he was a real person.
Bugler in the Entry Area
Peaceful resting place for honored people

Nice capture. I am from DC suburbs but have been to Arlington Cemetery only once.

Beautiful shots. I was there a year ago. Visited Arlington and the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Those two are Sacred grounds to me. Glad you also enjoyed the trip to DC as I did.
Remarkable images of an emotionally charged and honored cemetery.
Great photos! I have been there many times and feel that every American should visit it. What is especially moving is the tomb of the unknown soldier and the changing of the guard ceremony.

My father guarded the Tomb of the Unknowns in the early '50s. At that time it was only guarded by the 3rd Infintry. Now all branches of the services guard. It is known to be among the greastest honor to be bestowed in the service. In the 60's, dad took the family touring D.C. Having served at the Tomb, we had access to areas not open to the public, I.e. their quarters. Unbelievable preparation prior to going out on guard duty. I asked dad if he ever had to "halt" anyone from entering the restricted area, no he did not. As we were at the tomb, I had looked aside and heard the guard on duty yell HALT! I looked for someplace to hide from possible bullets flying! Yes, the rifles are loaded with live bullets. What happened is a toddler about 3 years old ran under the rope separating the public from the restricted area. The guard turned to face the child and said "Would the parents please step forward and remove the child."
I totally agree that every American should visit there. It gives one a real sense of the cost of our freedom.
Agree - every American should visit this hallowed ground. It is very moving. The Vietnam Wall is so powerful and should be visited, as well.
Tell your wife that I think the bugler looks like a real person, too! Very good shots, erinsdad!
Per the website for The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, this is still strictly an Army mission accomplished by select soldiers of the 3rd US Army Regiment (The Old Guard). Other services do not participate. Unless you have information I'm not aware of
