Thanks everyone...such touching comments that show just how wonderful a group of people we have here at UHH. Now for the story and I am a bit embarrassed on this one. My wife took this shot from our car the week before Father's Day. It's me, I had no idea she took it. We had drove the 680 miles to Missouri and I wanted to see my fathers grave one more time. I'm not sure how well I'll be able to travel in the future. The flowers with flags was a special arrangement my daughter made so I'd have something to place at his grave. I was floored when we got home and I began processing images from our trip. I ran across this image and when I asked my wife about it, she said that she couldn't pass up the moment. She had a camera lying next to her in the car seat, so took advantage of having a camera available. In a way, I'm glad she did. Like all of us, we miss our loved ones and like all of us, we do our best to move on, but we never forget their love. My father served in Korea for 2 years, he died at age 69 from Lung Cancer and I miss him so much. RIP Dad. Again, thank you all for your visits and comments. We photographers have a special connection to life...we capture it's beauty and it's moments (good and bad).
Thanks everyone...such touching comments that show... (

Beautiful image and underlying story. Thanks for sharing both. While the image itself would have been a wonderful (timed) self portrait, the underlying story makes it so much more powerful.
