I feel your pain. I've tried Corel, for some reason it's logic doesn't click yet with me. I know it's because I haven't spent enough time with it and I keep going back to Lightroom. Meanwhile I've bowed out of CC.

Joined the Adobe frustrations club myself a while ago. I have had issues with both CC and standalone version of Lightroom. When attempting to update my systems stalls and I get a returned message that says server unavailable.

After exhausting all the "fixes" on Adobe's site and others I posted a question about this to Adobe. After thirty days (30 yes) I received a reply that they do not support LR standalone and to try the forums. Of course I had already done this. There was a chap that stuck with me for a week posting various possible fixes, none worked. BTW this happens on both my home and office computers so I know it is not machine specific.

The only way I can update LR standalone is by downloading the update file and installing it manually. The auto update still does not work.

I'm hoping that On1 Photo Raw will free me from Adobe's clutches.

Happy shooting

Plus on top of it all. You can't beat Corel's price and it runs most of the plug-ins too. Corel also has decent support.
Corel does not run On1 plugins.

But Corel Draw Paint Shop Pro is only about $400.00 Aus and you own it for life - cheap!

I am sure when they have a major update your upgrade is not included in your $400 for life. software tends to move along the lines of car purchases. You new car is great until later when the new models come out. then it costs you. Nothing in life is free. Not even death.

I can only be responsible for my opinion. I did not like the idea of renting a cloud on a monthly basis when Adobe announced about three years ago their new plan. Do not ask me why, I simply did not like the idea.
I am still using Photoshop CS 5 and to me that is all I need. Not even once it has messed my plug-ins and by now I pretty much know how to edit my files with my preferences.
In my humble opinion you are doing the right thing.

The new Adobe Photoshop CC that just came out is not an upgrade. It's a whole new program. Even the opening screen is different. Could be that is the reason why your plugins aren't there. Ya just have to reinstall your plugins.

This is true. The OP is complaining about Adobe giving him a brand new program. If this were Adobe Photoshop CS6 that cost you $800, and then they came out with version CS7, and you decided it was worth it to have the new features, you'd pay the price, install it, and have to reload your plugins. Then you'd remove your over version or keep it. This time Adobe gave you a brand new version of Photoshop (free) for the simple price of $10/month and you have to copy the plugin folder contents from your Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 folder to your new Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.5 folder. Yes, it's a little inconvenient, but so it buying a new car. Shit, you buy a new car and you have to take all your old stuff out of the old car and decide what to do with it or put it in the new car. Then you got to go buy some new accessories for it, call the insurance company and get that changed, learn all the new features it has, try them out, give everyone a ride. What's the difference?

Using Mac Pro, and no problems either.

This morning ALL my plug-ins are gone. Trying to contact Adobe to get this fixed is like trying to win the lottery.
I got into a "chat"session with one of the "helpers" and he sent a web link that would fix the problem. I clicked on the link and found the information useless. Also found the chat link had closed. Then I got an email from Adobe telling me they considered my case resolved. Well pig's a... it's resolved. I am discontinuing my CC conscription when it expires and going to Corel Paint Shop Pro.

I never really having any problems running Ps CS6 on my PCs, including with Windows 10. I think Adobe's move to a subscription cloud based product is probably more trouble than it is worth. Who needs weekly new headaches and a persistent learning curve.

I have used Corel PSP for 15 years and recently have started to use Topaz Clarity plug-in. Clarity offers four different levels of contrast. In my real estate photos, I can smooth out lawns and walls and blue sky while enhancing granite counter tops, wooden cabinetry, cloudy sky, brick/stone exteriors, and hills in the landscape.

So how does Focus Selection, Dehaze filter, Content Aware Move/Scale/Fill work on your 6 yr old software?
Using the current version of everything - no issues with plugins or anything else - and the new version of PS loads and runs really fast.

Corel makes good software and you will enjoy it.

That said, your expectations are backwards. Programs like Photoshop, Microsoft Word and countless others can host plugins. The hosts don't adapt to the plug ins. The plug ins adapt to the host. Adobe, Microsoft, Apple or whoever need to be able to make updates. Perhaps the menu structure needs adjustment. Should Adobe call up all plug in suppliers and get their clearance? That is not going to work.

Instead, when there is an update that effects the plug ins, you usually do a reinstall. Sometimes it takes a plug in provider a few days to adjust their software. The good ones like Topaz and Nik continue to allow downloads of their installation files that detect that you've paid and detect any needed change.

My Nik and Topaz plug in filters were missing after the update too. It took (maybe) ten minutes to download fresh installation files and run them. All is well again.

I've never used Paint Shop. If it accepts plug ins, I would expect similar upgrade procedures.

Do you need links to fresh install files?

You probably don't need it, but the Adobe "chat" chat lines are not nearly as effective as getting help from users on forums. Adobe sponsors a couple that are full of helpful users that generously provide their time.

Bill, you've done a good service in pointing out that the plug-in providers must always adjust to fit the master program they are plugging into, not the other way around. It is an obvious matter, but one needing an occasional reminder.

I have Photoshop 6 and have considered, but have not gone to CC as what I have works perfectly for what I do. I did do the 30 day free trial on the latest Corel but it is not intuitive as, for instance, it has no "open" or "save" or "save as" options and their "export" options simply do not work well. When you work on a lot of photographs, these buttons are indispensable. I must be missing something. For now, I will stick with my Photoshop which is like Timex and keeps on ticking.

None of your objections are true. You must not be familiar with PSCC first hand.

A somewhat sobering opinion from someone who really wanted to like it.
