Could it not also prove the quality of the non "L" lenses has markedly improved?

Being a retired freelance sports photographer, I saw the change beginning in around 2010 when photographers started switching to Nikon from Canon for the reasons that Nikon users switched to Canon in the early 90's. It seems that one company, once they get the upper-hand on favorability, begins neglecting the users and their concerns. I originally traded in all my Nikon equipment and bought all Canon because Canon was great for pros - their pro service bent over backwards to see that our equipment was repaired quickly and cheaply and any questions would be promptly answered. Canon had captured the market and held it for close to 10-12 years, but, slowly, but surely they began taking the pro for granted, taking longer than usual to repair items, not listening to our concerns and now Nikon has the market. My guess that will all change again in the future. The best thing a photographer can do is hang on. It won't be that long before most of the lenses will be white.

The Nikon D5 will be available for the Olympics and upcoming College/NFL games. The Canon 1DXii is still on pre-order and may be MIA for these upcoming events.

The most important part of any lens should be clear and colorless....

I was at the game yesterday and had seats behind home plate. Had a good view of the photographer dugout and plenty of them walking around before the game and between innings. I didn't do a scientific count, but I saw a bunch more black lenses than white lenses. I was surprised as I used to see more white glass. I wonder what may be different. I'm a Canon fan boy so I got a little queasy. I just got another beer and pretty much got over it.

Take this sick BS elsewhere! Perhaps to a KKK or Arian website. This is where decent people come to discuss photography.

nObama has passed another law....this one makes it a felony and racist violation to use white over black lenses.
Its also a safety thing as he doesnt want whites photographing at the scene of riots and anti Trump gatherings

Just returned from Disney World. Two years ago, Disney photographers were shooting Canon. This time they all had Nikon. Yes, I am a Nikon guy.

Billyspad: So let me get this right you go to watch a game which is so boring with friends who you must find similar and so you get "interested" in what make of camera the guys in the photographers dug out were using?
Like who gives a frig then and who gives a frig now?
Suggest you go to Ebay and see if you can buy a life at a reasonable price. White lens vs black lens ......................Geez how damn thrilling!
And to make it worse, as if it could be, you come here rattling on about nothing and admit you could not be bothered to make a scientific count!!!
How can we debate this issue properly when fed with only half of the information we need? Next time please do the job properly or just leave it to others who are more capable!

Nagy: Your response is an example of unprovoked ad hominism. There is absolutely nothing wrong with perceiving a change in the percentage of Canon super telephoto L lenses being used at sporting events. As a matter of fact, it is quite natural for a photographer to notice such things, and wonder if his observation is an error, an aberration, or an astute observation of a change in the industry. Since he could not make a scientific assessment of the situation on the spot, referring his question to others who may shed light on the issue does not justify your conclusion that he does not "have a life." Your psychotic anger, on the other hand, indicates there may some problems with yours.

This is happening all around these days. I was watching some soccer games on TV last weekend (The European Championship). And I was surprised not to see much white lenses. It is obvious that Nikon is kicking ass with the D500 and D5 cameras since the pros are leaving Canon.
