Thanks for the article. Brought back memories. When I was in high school in the late 50's, I played taps at a lot of the local military funerals. There were two of us. One stood behind a stone and played, and the other walked off in the distance to play the echo.
Sadly, at the last military service I attended, an electronic version was used. Just not the same respect due.

I joined the Air Force in March of 1952 and the playing of Taps each night was done electroniclly over the P.A. system while in basic training - what a waste...

With each TAPS played it seems we lose one of those old buglers that once played.

I have also been dismayed by the electronic taps played a military funeral.
The sad truth I must accept is there are more military funerals than available bugle players.
