My computer updated to 10 from 7 without my permission. It has been asking me if I wanted to update for awhile now. I kept saying "no". I guess it got sick of asking and did it anyway. However, even though I think that doing it without my permission is wrong, I'm not finding anything wrong with it. I've been using it for over a week now. Everything seems to be running fine. I was sent a survey asking me what I thought and I told them that downloading windows 10 without permission is wrong, but it seems to be working ok.

I updated awhile ago. It works okay, but being somewhat computer challenged I still haven't figured out how to do some stuff. I have to go on YouTube a lot to learn the basics. Maybe someday I will finally get it.

Some I know have no issues and like it...some I know would like to take a sledge hammer to their machines after so called upgrading. As far as the permissions issue, probably the major reason I won't upgrade till there is no choice.

If you find that MS10 has downloaded to your computer there is still a way to get the OS reverted to whatever you were using. Just do not accept the legal stuff when asked to do so. Choose the don't accept and MS10 will be removed, leaving you with your original OS. It happened to me, I speak from personal experience.

I'm glad you like it, but having it forced on you is definitely strange.

I did know I could go back, but since I have no problems I might as well keep it.

Yes very strange. I feel like they could control anything they want. What's with that?

Yes, Microsoft has been getting stealthy and pushy lately. My wife's Windows 7 PC started a Windows 10 download and install without permission many months ago. Even with a technician on the telephone there was no way of stopping it. But once finished I was immediately able to Roll It Back to Windows 7. We may opt to upgrade eventually once I find all the minor programs I need that will run with Windows 10. My newer PC came with Windows 10 so I'm fairly used to it now. Somethings I like better with 10, others with 7, and others with Vista.

My Sister-In-Law had one of those automatic Windows 10 installs happen too. She had been planning to update / upgrade but first wanted to do a back-up of her files. She was worried something might get lost. As far as I know nothing was lost on my wife's PC but sister-in-law does not believe the people she actually knows.

MS can't just install Windows10 on your computer. They have been sending you notices and somewhere along the line you either checked a wrong box or failed to check a right one. My techie friend told me that MS has also recently changed the upgrade to a a "Critical" category so it might have occurred because of your option settings regarding updates to your computer. We haven't reached the point where MS can do it simply because they want to.

I'm getting used to it too. I find it similar to a phone. I immediately checked my photos and Photoshop Elements 14 to be sure everything was OK. My Husband has 10 he's getting used to it. But, He doesn't like change. Now, I guess Microsoft is trying to take the choice away from us. I'm happy to hear your wife was able to roll back to 7 so easily.

Well, my setting on my computer were to always ask. I checked because I have heard of this happening before. Also, I did not want Windows 10 because I have heard the majority had issues. And this has happened to a lot of people, not just me. It would be strange that we all "checked the wrong box".

Windows 7 still has 55% worldwide usage as of today. Perhaps Microsoft doesn't like being turned down on a freebie upgrade to Windows 10?

Youtube appears the main 'Go-To' these days as it appears most problems have been sorted by someone and many of the instructional videos are much clearer than the manuals.

There are also some things in Windows 10 that are new and that I like, like it's own version of the news, flipboard, Money, etc. Everything that 7 had is still there, even if it's been laid out differently. I still use the same browser and homepage. They still get me to you guys.
