Understand your situation. Just got the D750 bundled with 24-120 lens on Wednesday. Have the D7100 also. Wanted to go to FX but kept the DX. Have noticed the the D750 is a bit heavier than the D7100. Like the high ISO and being able to shoot in low light without flash that's possible on D750. Also, the articulating screen is a plus, especially when shooting low level landscape photos. Also, like the fact that I can use my DX lens on the D750 at least for now until I can afford some FX lens. If you rent before you buy - try BorrowedLens.com Good Luck.

Hi guys, back in November switched from Nikon D7100 to Olympus OMD EM 1,at first great!? Love the size and the way it handles but really disappointed with the image quality, now I'm going to return to Nikon but the question is which onešŸ¤”Really like the reviews of the D750 fx,D500 Dx,I'm no pro just like to take good holiday, landscape images and pictures of course our dog while out on long walks, slightly bothered by the missing flash on D500 or with the extra weight of fx be to heavy,HELPšŸ˜±

Rent both cameras and experience which one feels the best and which one gives you the results you are looking for. hopefully it will be the same camera that fills both needs, but in the end you will be able to make the decision through experience rather that by what someone else says. unless you need the extra frames per second, you may also check out the d7200 rather than the d500. you could purchase one refurbished for a better price.

From what I've seen and read here on the site. The D500

Weight is OK as I use cross strap (check out Peak Designs) rather than wearing camera strap around my neck. D750 with 24-120 lens costs $2296 in US and think the D500 with 16-80 mm lens is $3066.95 in US. Comparative weights body only: D7100 = 675 g/25.8 oz, D750 = 835 g/24.47 oz, and D500 = 860 g/29.58 oz. Suggest you check out cameras in store or rent before purchasing.

There is almost no difference of the weights of the D500 & D750. The D500@10.9oz weighs more than the D750@10.4oz, not less and if you need a little flash add the weight of your external flash to the D500.

Are you absolutely sure you are not just imagining a difference in image quality?

If you don't like the image quality of an EM-1 then I suggest a medium format

The thing about the D750 Iv'e noticed in the past month using one....when they say "fill the frame"...they mean it....compared to a DX/crop size camera.

You mean like this? Taken with a Leica Type 114; a 1" sensor.

Shot on my back porch with a Nikon 105mm 2.8G mounted on my D750. Now....we all know real men don't take pictures of flowers, but every now and then I can't resist.

One of the reasons I got rid of my D800 was because the images were so huge they became unmanageable. Most experienced photographers will agree that the "pixel war," now, is just marketing.

Could you have backed down from "Large - Fine" and gotten a smaller file size ??

I always shoot RAW for post processing...so that was not an option.
