The Justice system and the judges that make it up are a bigger joke than the current election candidates. The whole thing just discusts me.

Remember that in November.......the next president will select 3-5 SCOTUS members.

Imagine if you will, that democrats/liberalism no longer exist. Nirvana (a state of perfect quietude, freedom, highest happiness). Dream on.

Hi Jerry -

I suppose this topic could go on forever . . . I've often said that there is no justice in America. The theory of justice is great - couldn't ask for a better system - problems is teh influence by other factors. Here is a post by a friend of mine on Facebook. He's PhD, who has also studied law:
"I don't know why it surprises me but I am stunned - STUNNED - by the response of the father of former Stanford student Brock Allen Turner who was last week convicted of sexual assault of an unconscious victim. The slime-ball convicted felon got a paltry 6 months in county jail, 3 years of probation, and has to register as a sex offender. His dad's response was: "That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life.” I don't know where to begin with the outrage. Maybe your over-privileged son should simply be given a do-over, and made to sit in the corner while he thinks about whether screwing a drunk, passed out woman was wrong... Not one damned word of sympathy for the real victim in this, the poor young lady who has to live with the humiliation of being physically violated for the rest of her life. Incarceration for an act of rape is not an appropriate punishment? Maybe you are correct, but then again castration isn't allowed under our system of government... You and your son are both living proof that some people can never accept the fact they did anything wrong. Hope you son has lots of soap on a rope for his next few months in the hell-hole known as county jail. May God be with the real victim here... And may your son AND YOU come to realize what both of your actions have done."

One wonders where we are going as a free democracy culturally, and politically. -- Trane

Were any of you people on the jury and did you hear the facts? I wasn't on the jury so it's hard to speculate why the judge was so lenient. Trying people in the press or in public forums isn't what America "should" be about - but it is.

You are right. The jury did their job. This is solely on the judge.

In November, our choice will be between; Use or Less. Either way, we are screwed.

In today’s world of being “Politically Correct”, we need to worry about the Rapist well being. The women who was raped? Naw, she will be OK and will suffer no long term effects.

Besides, she was unconscious. LOL

Interestingly, there is a very active movement to recall this judge. And us liberals are all over this outrageous action. We do take rape seriously.

Jerry,
I posted a similar article covering the same incident. The kid's father was whining about him having to get punished for only 20 minutes of fun.
