Many times the last part of the numerous the same but the front part changes depending on what country it is routed through. My provider has been blocking some automatically now. I think mine seem to originate from the UK but have been routed through s series of countries by auto dialers an routers. Just a bloody nuisance. I hope it costs them a fortune!!

I only have cell phones, no land line. If a call comes in and I don't recognize the caller it doesn't get answered. If they leave a message and its a legit call I call back. If it's bogus, I add the number to my block list.

Amazon doesn't recognize it. I could really use this device. Perhaps you could give a website, please?

I purchased the CPR CallBlocker that was recommended by Jerryc41 on this site. Yes, it does cost $99. Yes, it does block the calls. It comes with 5000 known scam phone numbers. It blocks unknown, private and any numbers you want to add (up to an additional 1500 numbers). I have only added 37 numbers and I haven't had any scammers for over two weeks. Unfortunately, the credit card people tend to use many different numbers, 35 of the 37 numbers. But once you add the number, they don't get through. You do have the opportunity to answer (one ring) a "private" number if you want. I recently called a customer service number of a pharmaceutical company. The dummies called back on a private number. The CallBlocker rang once, then terminated. They called right back and I was able to answer. I explained they should change their ways and show who they are on caller ID. They said they didn't know why some people never answered.

This product is worth the money in just peace of mind. I hate those scammers. When you get a Toll Free number, or other, that you don't want, just hit #2. Their ID number is added to the list and they are immediately disconnected. BYE BYE scammers. You do have to answer the phone at least one more time until the numbers are added to the list. Just keep this product in mind in the future. The phone companies are making too much money from these people to be helpful. The "Do Not Call" lists don't work. I no longer have to deal with the phone ringing by bad guys.

7es, but when I hang up they are then paying for this call and have talked to no one. They will call back 2 or 3 times but I do the same thing and after paying for these calls they never call back. That's all I was trying to get across.

I bet they pay a flat rate, just like I do. I can make as many calls as I want, for the same monthly charge. All they are wasting is the time of the people they are paying. They must be getting enough positive replies, or they wouldn't keep calling.

Did not know that there was a flat rate, I just assumed that they pay for each call. You learn something every day.

I've downloaded "Reorder tones" on my recorder and play it back when I answer the phone. It tells the telemarketer's computer that the line in not in service and it deletes my number. Seems to work as I'm only getting a few calls now and then.

There are many cell phone apps that can block the calls. Many are free. Look into it. Problem solved!

Hey, Flyerace; drop some names of the ones that work for you good.

The FCC has both the resources and the tools to go after these junk call scammers. Sadly, it is infamously indolent. The main federal law banning such trash calls (and junk faxes) is the TCPA. But it was TEN YEARS from enactment of the TCPA before the FCC even began doing even minor investigating...

One factor in the issue is the Congress starving the funding of Do Not Call program and enforcement. Guess why and say hello to the Attic.

I have a friend who is creative and writes a bit. What he did was write a line of patter that went along the following lines. "How glad I am that you called just now. I have just developed a way you can make your self rich ...." You see where that is going, but you do need to have some time on your hands.

My cell phone is for on the road emergencies and or "wifie" to call me while I am away from the house-she is disabled or me to call home from town to avoid a 30 mi round trip for something that did not get on my list. If that phone rings anytime I am at home it does not get answered. - If I get a call from anyone else while I am out I chew them out for calling an emergency phone and hang up. I have been getting fewer and fewer calls.

We have set our cell phones up such that any call from someone in our 'contact list' gets a ringtone and certain special people get special ringtones. We are also very stingy about who can get our cell numbers. This does not prevent a spammer from hacking a friends phone who has us in their 'contact' list.

Now this is what I call creativity. I liked how he took charge of the call. Of course, it helps to have a 'cop' voice and a 'take charge' attitude and be able to think lightning fast. He had a way that could not be ignored and set the mood that the other guy dared not hang up on. Wish I had that skill.

DoNotCall.gov is one way to limit the calls. You can list several numbers at once. They send a confirmation on text or email which you must reply to, to activate the block. It's not a physical block but offenders can be sanctioned by the Govt. When I get an obvious sales call the first thing I say is I'm on the Do Not Call list, Please remove me from your list.

We got the "Widows Technical Help" call. I told him I wasn't interested and take me off your list. Not three minutes later he called back and threatened to "lock up" my computer. I hope he heard me laughing as I was hanging up.
