Thanks. I agree.

A mile, a Miss
A curve, a Kiss.
He kissed the Miss,
and missed the curve.

Apologies, I can't help it.

Thank you all for the information, looks like I have some foot work to do. I understand that homeland security might be a concern and wondered if I should even go on the net with this question. Last year they came through our town with high speed rail, going looking today seems like the concrete ties all cracked and are being replaced plus putting up some kind of fence around the tracks, that is going to be interesting.

Sending this to encourage you to get out there. Even if you go to the station sometimes their are some cool engines you can shoot, tho we don't always get the best angle on them...they still can make a nice shot....

I’m not a railroad guy and the term “stick” is new to me. We recently measured our entrance track to our coal power plant to see if we could handle 150-car trains. This plant uses about 3-4 100-car trains in a week. I’ll post some pictures of the trains unloading and waiting to unload.

When I go trainshooting photography I use my telephoto so dont have to be track side to get a good shot also like to go to a hill top and shoot down on the train and get it in wide angle to get most of it in the frame.
