Good composition, great subject, but the animal appears blurry and there is some c.a. around his topknot and neck hair.

Quite tight top and right....if the effect is pleasing to you, that's all that matters.

The desaturated colours give an impression of coldness and bleakness.

Love the textures, perspective and pp. The animal's placement does cause me discomfort, but in a good way

thanks, Linda...glad to hear he positive reaction to the tension of the composition...the imbalance was meant to accentuate the perspective..or vice-versa...

First impression earlier today was your choice of animal placement and the use of muted colours, second look confirms that these factors make this one.

The color treatment makes this photo for me. just wish there was a tad more room top and right - afraid the right border is going to poke him in the butt and make him jump and put a bulge in the top frame.

I think I'd prefer the subject lower down and more left. To me it looks like a good shot to abide by the 'rule of thirds'.

I really like the effect achieved and, like Linda, find the crop uncomfortable but probably correct for the intent - and quite brave!

hi, Neil,
Framing/placement was my major quandary...it obviously has met with mixed reviews.
You and I agreed for almost half the time I spent figuring it out!
Thanks for your input...
it is, as you know, sort of cumulative...

Thanks, John...
I do appreciate your thoughts...see my comments to Neil...I could have addressed them to both of you.
Thanks again for looking and commenting.

Thanks, magneto man!
I was thinking "a little gutsy" ... but I'll gladly accept "brave"!
