In 2012 I traveled to the town that my grandparents were born in in Italy. This town was a sister city to the one that I had been raised in as a child. The last two pictures are of the inside of a church that celebrated a festival (Our Lady of Constantinople) on the 2nd weekend in September and it was also celebrated in Pennsylvania. Despite the fact that I spoke almost no Italian (and they no English), I was taken in and treated as if I were family. The ex-mayor of the town helped me to do research on my family and I was able to trace back to the 1700's. He also introduced me to my 4th cousins (neither of us had known of the others). I even discovered that I was staying on the same street that my grandmother had been born on. I left a big piece of my heart in that small town!

What a Wonderful Experience...!!!
Thanks for sharing the Beautiful Images...!!!
The church is absolutely stunning! A very well done set.
Nice series. Can you share the name of the town? Is it on the hill in image No. 1? Beautiful setting...as are so many of Italy's hill towns.
Very nicely done....wonderful set of photos...thanks for sharing!!
Outstanding series. Thank you for sharing the experience as well as the photos.
Very nice photos. Good work in the church. Where was this?
What a great experience for you, and you have come back with some great shots.
My Mum always said : we don't go back any further, we are not game" LOL
I made the same trip in 1995 and came home with a brick from the house my grandfather was born in. We were in Assisi just a few months before an earthquake that seriously damaged a monastery containing relics of St. Francis. Have a great photo album from that trip.

Great series Nomad; congratulations on getting back to your roots.
I would like to thank everyone for the compliments. The town in the first and 6th photos is Castel San Angelo, the view is what I saw each morning outside my B & B in Felitto, Italy. I did get to Assisi that trip, it is beautiful. While I stayed on the same street where my grandmother had been born, I could not find the address. By the way, my avatar is a bridge across the Calore river just outside of Felitto.
How absolutely wonderful to have had that opportunity. Incredible.

I must apologize, the town in pictures #1 and #6 is Castel San Lorenzo
