From the post My Image - Your Look: Let's Experiment With Editing let's see what you can do with an image of The Road.

To make it easy I've attached the Canon RAW file and a SOOC JPG, and TIFF to The Road
- The image below has been reduced to allow for an easy upload to the site

You have until midnight, next Wednesday ET to post them here then we'll turn it in for a vote. Enjoy! S-

Bit of a "normal" image Boss so hope ya do not mind, actually I do not care lol, but decided to spice it up just a tad leaving of course the divine light and splendid leading lines

Been on roads like this in Oregon. Memories of the softness and yet the intensity of color came back to me as I applied this look.

And another good file to work with. Thank you sir.

It was/is a challenge to deal with the glare while maintaining the look of light. I don't know how well I achieved a balance but it was a fun effort.

Thanks for the exercise, I added a little bend to the road and brought out some detail.

This is wonderful. I must get you to work your magic on some of mine one day.

I have a question. Why is it that the road appear mauve in a photo when there are trees on both sides of the road on a bright day? I have such a photo and have spent ages in Lightroom trying to make it brown and have failed like others here have too. Can someone drawn any light on this one?

I NOTE THOUGH, THAT IN THE ORIGINAL PHOTO HERE OF THE ROAD IT IS BROWN, LIKE IT SHOULD BE.

One possibility - sometimes editors do automatic WB and Tint adjustments on import. I can remember deliberately avoiding shifting the Tint slider towards magenta for the very reason that it tinted the road in a way I didn't like. In my main edit I shifted the WB towards yellow to warm things up a bit, and I would have shifted the Tint slider towards magenta for a similar reason but I didn't, for the reason just given. I seem to remember that the road responded well to shifts towards blue and green. So I blame automatic Tint adjustments....
