Hi!
I am from the middle of the Rocky Mountains in Missoula, Montana. I got Canon xSi about a year and a half ago, so am fairly new to the DSLR world. However, I have shot more than the usual number of pix with a variety of point and shoots. I really enjoy exploring photography, and want to learn about macro and portrait work. I am a confessed cheapskate. For example, I got my camera as the shelf model from Target for $385 with the standard 18-55 kit lens. My next move will be to purchase the stuff necessary for portable studio lighting.
Welcome, Montanageek...hey, ya gotta start somewhere, right? I'm sure you will have some nice results from your camera. (don't think of it as being cheap...maybe thrifty?? lol)
Thrifty is right! Don't spend more until you need something to do more! And, welcome to the group.
Glad to have ya on board.
camera and lens count,,but the nut behind the camera counts for more.. learn your comp/subject/camera abities,etc..
also-- your interests may be 'studio',but don't forget--you live in a wonderful part of the country for outdoor work[yes I'm an old montanan and know whats there]...-joe
Lucky you, living right smack dab in the middle of God's country. I live a few hours to your left on the eastern edge of WA and have spent a few nights in Missoula. There is a great pizza place there with fantastic thin crust! Hope to see some great mountain images from you...
