I captured this guy, from my back porch, during yesterday's light rain.

Very nice! I would try to warm the WB more. Looks kind of cold, blue. I t would make the image more appealing. Nice work.

Pretty; I've got a bunch of them that just recently joined my free range pet flock. I guess the free food is to good to turn down...

Thanks so much, jeep daddy, chaman, morrison, robert, and Bob. Your comments and suggestions
are appreciated. I'll try warming the white balance as suggested, see how it looks, but I don't want it to look
too much like a sunny day, as yesterday was quite cold and damp, and this guy was a bright spot in the
dull woods.

nice shot--poor bird does not look happy

I agree with chaman that there is too much blue--especially in the white feathers of the bird. Check your white balance or if you have a software program --see what you can do to remove the blue tint. Or paint the feathers white using a low opacity for the colour

About 3 weeks ago one of them showed up at my feeder site in the woods. The next day there were two of them and the following week the count was up to 7. I've been at that spot for years and never spotted one before. I guess they like the neighborhood.

Here's a couple pics of them...

I tried warming it up a bit, but it just didn't look like the bird in the environment I saw. Yesterday was a very wet and chilly day, as he was the bird conveyed the feeling perfectly.

Here's the warmer version , from temp. 4450° to 5450°, to me the posted version looked more natural to the
conditions existing at the time.

That looks much better. There is no natural environment where a bird will show blue shadows as far as I know. Even the branches looked bluish to purple in the original. Its warmed up just a tad but still the quality of the light is compatible with a gloomy rainy day. I would choose the second example it it was my image.

I agree about the white, I have the same problem when people show snowy wintertime photos with bluish shadows in the snow, that bugs me. I probably should have lightened and warmed up that white somewhat,
but I still think the original best reflected what I saw in those gloomy conditions.
