Fishing boats at Calatagan harbour Batangas Philippines
For your consideration
Congratulations on a fine photo, Billy. The sun trying to peek through the clouds creates a great early-morning atmosphere.

An absolutely wonderful scene Billy but I'm confused about the title since it looks like the sun is already pretty high in the sky, yet it's kinda dark. Is that odd haze on the horizon part of some kind of pollution or atmospheric? Were you using a strong ND filter? Hope you'll eventually explain your processing and the conditions. Possibly I just don't understand what the scenery is like there, and where the sun is at certain times of day.
If I were where these boats could be found, I would be there about like I am for the dam birds, and have great fun with it. I hope you will share more from this harbor, what a treasure!

Looks to me like a mid morning shot under exposed about a stop and half in need of more brushwork. Very pleasing and well composed Mr. Spad.
You should try the straight stuff more often! The hazy band along the horizon looks a bit artificial, though. Did you brighten it to add more light? Those boats look like they'd be worth a close-up or two......

When you visit me in Phils I will take you to this and other small fishing villages. For a few dollars you can go out on a fishing trip with them.
I never did Im a bad sailor a worse swimmer and Philippines maritime safety is the worst in the world.
The haze on the horizon is an atmospheric thing here maybe caused by the heat. I could have over emphasized it a tad but only a tad.
Oh the title min. Purely a spoof on some of the rubbish being trotted out around the place about light. No idea what time I took this its a few years old and just discovered in a forgotten folder. Its basically manufactured in PS color in the sky reflection on the water etc all put in by ol' Billy dancing the light fandango!
Processing wise lots of blend mode use.
So pack a bag gal and lets go fishing!!!!!!!

Hi Billy
Perhaps you will revisit that fishing village and let us have a less manipulated version, as it looks such a beautiful spot. Prove your point Billy and show us what you can do with natural light. I am waiting.

I think it would work better without that darkening. The haze on the horizon makes it look strange. I got similar effects when using Dave Chinn's tutorial for changing day to night and haven't figured out how he avoids it. Maybe you ought try shooting this great scene in early natural light and see how different it turns out.
Nice work, Billy, love how you composed and processed this.

It is far from beautiful Heather but the shore line can be manipulated and shot from certain angles to look good.
Anyway cos your a fellow country woman here is the shot with what I would normally do with it au naturelle.
Remember I would not do this for just anybody!!!!

There ya go min au naturelle as requested by Heather. To me its just OK but lacks impact. Many I know would be quite happy with it.
