Hi Gene,

Thanks. I just downloaded it, and tried it, - and it worked. It wasn't as intuitive as View NX2, but I figured it out.

It's good to know I have another program to "To fall back on," when my "Trusty" ViewNX2 doesn't work. Thanks again. I appreciate your help.

Glad it works for you!

I did not read far enough to Gene51, sorry about the double information. You can try FastStone, if you are a PC user, it is free and you can download a 100 page manual to boot. Very easy to learn and use, and you can edit as well. Good Luck, Gary

I have been using the latest version of ViewNX2, to view and resize many images, i.e. 60-100 images, at one time.
The other day, I tried to resize some images, and the program kept crashing. I reinstalled the program, but that didn't help. I also noticed that this "crashing" only happened with this particular file-not any other file.

Is there a free program, that will allow me to highlight, and resize many images at one time. I usually resize the images from 320-750, on the long side. As I mentioned, ViewNX2, has always worked for me, with out any trouble. except for this file. I appreciate everyone's input.

Irfanview. Get the plug-ins, too.

It's not free, but you can download a trial copy of Paintshop Pro to use for a month and it will do what you want. It's pretty cheap and you can probably pick up an older copy on eBay for next to nothing.

I have LR, but haven't really gotten into using it. I'm used to ViewNX2, and Photoshop, and so far that's all I have needed. When I have time, I guess I'll delve into LR, but for now I don't have the time to start learning a new program , and some of the quirks that LR offers. Thanks for your suggestion. Take care.

If you have Photoshop, you can accomplish the task with Bridge. I have done as many as 5,000 images at one time with Bridge, creating 600x400 pictures from 6000x4000 pictures.

Firestone Photo Resizer works perfectly - I have used it for many years now. It will also resize and/or change compression of JPGs of lots of folders at once - keeping the file structure and can save the finished folders anywhere you want. It also has a multitude of other functions as well as resizing.

I use Light Image Resizer Free. You can select multiple images or folders, and specify where they are saved. You can also right click to resize from the context menu. Very easy to use.

Well you got all the answers about what else to use but why all the angst? You said it only failed with one file. Something different about that file? Time date stamp maybe? Anyway, seems like downloading and using another program is much harder and time consuming than simply pulling one file out of the queue.

Hi I am surprised that you don't have LR? LR will resize batches on export. LR was designed for photographers like you and me that shoot large amounts of shots at a time.

It always surprises me that people are surprised when someone doesn't use Lightroom.

AS IF Lightroom is the only program in the whole of existence that "was designed for photographers who shoot large amounts of shots at a time".

I have been using Lightroom CC for all of my resizing. I had too much trouble with NX or any other programs I used. I have several save options for the different file sizes for the various end uses of the photos I need.

Graphic Converter (Mac Only). Best $40 shareware you'll ever buy. It has tons of features. Batch resizing is just one.

That program used to come free with MacOS. Back in the "old" days. ;)

I tell the young engineers, "remember, today is what you will look back on as the good old days". It gives them pause for thought.
