Nikon D7100 Focus issue

I've just purchased a used D7100 but I'm having a focus issue my fellow hoggers might be able to help me with (fingers crossed).
I have the following lenses; AF-S NIKKOR 50mm 1:1.4 G and a SIGMA DC 17-70mm 1:2.8-4 MACRO HSM and a Nikon ED AF NIKKOR 80-200mm 1:2.8 D and when I try to use them on the D7100 I cant seem to set the auto focus like on my D7000?
I've read the manual but getting no where, using the AE-L/AF-L button to auto focus is fine but I would like to set the camera up to focus when I press the shutter release button just like on my D7000. This one is bugging me a little.
Thanks in advance.

In your custom setting menu go to f controls, then f4 (assign AE-L/AF-L button) and change it from AF-ON to which of the other options you prefer and press OK and this should solve your problem. On this camera AF-ON can also be assigned to the Preview button so if this has been done then you will need to go to f3 and change that to Preview. I hope this helps.

I would be thinking about a reset to get rid of some things that might be lurking.

Hi Dave,
Many thanks for the link, I'd already done a factory reset though and that didn't resolve the issue. So I thought, how the heck can I get a quick solution to this problem and of course UH members came to the rescue.
Thank you to you all for your very welcome help.
All the best,
Graham.

You have solved you problem but a lot of HH members including myself using back button focusing which is very good for me.

Thank you for helping me! I should have checked to see what attributes are restored to factory settings with the reset. David Busch's Nikon D7100 book would have helped me,had I used it.
