I think no one should be jailed for using this plant, but in Colorado there has been an appalling frenzy of trying to develop the highest potency plants and creating the highest potency edibles. Really - are you having trouble getting stoned enough? The Denver Post reported on one dispensary that was selling candy bars which contained 180mg of THC (about 18 doses). The problem with that is that it takes up to an hour to feel anything when you eat it, so people very easily get a far greater dose than if they smoke it. This has led to suicides, a murder or two, and accidental deaths. It is moronic. My fear is that this type of behavior will have a pendulum effect and negatively impact the drive to accept this plant as a useful medicinal herb.

"a murder or two" and you think no one should be jailed for using this plant?

What Colorado has also learned is that the state is awash in tax revenue from pot sales. So much that they had to give some back to the residents of the state. The Taxpayer Bill of Rights we have states that if there is a surplus over the projected amount, it has to be returned to the citizens of the state. The state legislature was scrambling to find excuses to keep the money, they looked like a kid with two handfuls of candy whose parents are making him put it back. There was a ballot measure on it and we the people made them follow the law.

Do you expect that your state income tax might be eliminated?

I would like to see a comparison with alcohol deaths, hospital visits, etc. I can't see it being any worse than booze. Most, if not all drugs, kill if misused. Teach your children well.

I was born 1955, So I lived through the 60, 70 and 80's. I was one of the few people in my LARGE group of park friends that only drank beer. One of my observations was that the handful of my friends that smoked pot on a very continuous basis sort of had their brains turn to RUBBER. I know a few people today that smoke in this fashion. Seems like they feel they cannot function without smoking. But smoking makes them non-functional. Like I said, I don't care, but makes you wonder.

Having lived in a state where MANY of the inhabitants were pot heads, I saw those vacant, stares and prematurely aged habitual smokers, frequently hanging around, out of work because no one wanted to hire the known potheads and risk having an accident, pot related, in the work place. I have a really big problem with some of these states wanting to legalize it for recreational use just so they could tax it to have more money to spend on other vote procuring programs. It is proven that pot affects the development of the brain in people under the age of around 23. My fear is that more and more elementary school children will be able to get their hands on pot as the illegal pot dealers will be targeting them even more vigorously than now. Wake up people and think about your kids. You don't want to vaccinate them because you are afraid that your kid might be the one in million that has a reaction to the vaccine, yet you have no problem with destroying your children's brains with pot, just because you think it is OK. The laws may prohibit sales to minors, but that never stopped them from getting liquor, so why would pot be any different? Sorry, but some things just get me up on my Soap Box and this is one of them. ("You" is an editorial "you", not targeting anyone specific.)

That's not really a stat.......it's a speculative statement at best.

Here in Florida we voted on it and it got the majority, but oddly enough we didn't get 60 percent, even though all the polls said that we had up to 75 percent. So back to the same old same old thing here, but this week Polk Co. has started to talk about legalizing it anyway, ahhh home sweet home. Best of luck in all of your states too.

kinda like what happened in D.C. people forced it to reverse.

does not matter what the states try and do, possession of pot and possession of pot with intent to distribute are FEDERAL CRIMES. When we get a president who actually cares about enforcement of all laws not just the one he likes, all bets are off. January 20th 2017 president trump will unleash the DEA, INS, and Border Patrol.
