When trying to upgrade Canons DPP to 4.0 I get an intercept that says that I have to update the photoviewer. How do I do this, so that the new DPP will download? Thanks for the help BTW I use win 10.

OK but a Nikon guy can use Cannon's DPP as it doesn't know which camera uses it.

Go to the official Canon Download site:

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/cameras/support-software-applications/imagebrowser

It will detect your operating system and then click on dropdown menu and follow the directions.

Is this a download problem, or is it an install problem? I'm using DPP4 on Windows 10 and have experienced no issues. There is information about Windows photoviewer online and activating it in Windows 10, but not sure if it will address your problem. http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/14312-windows-photo-viewer-restore-windows-10-a.html

Good luck

Actually it does. First, you can't even download DPP 4 without a camera serial number, and second while it will work with jpeg files, it is primarily a raw processor which will only work with Canon .cr2 raw files. Many of the features aren't available if you are not processing a raw file.

If you're a Nikon guy and not using DPP why are you even responding to his query?
