This is an incredible use of technology --- like

traveling back in time! Left click and hold on each photo, and then

drag your mouse gently from left to right on the original photograph

and it will be become a photo of the exact same location and view today

- drag it back to the left and you are back in 1944!

Amazing!! Thanks for posting this. I especially like shifting from present to past so that the present has an overlay of the ghosts of the past, or in reverse, the wartime pictures show the promise of a colorful future. I remember WW2 so these moved me deeply. Great technology.

I've seen this several times and each time I get teary eyed over the many men and women that were lost in WWII. These photos show how much things have changed over the past 70 years. Mahalo for sharing.

Morning SBW. I just thought that two of the D day modern shots could have been taken anywhere on any beach, especially the close up shot of troops landing on the shore...The rest of the shots and their modern equivalents were brilliant.
