I'm really drawn to these types of photos and this photo is one of the reasons why! Well done!

Great Pic - but I might have hidden the red fishing buoys behind the boat before taking the photo - or cloned them out? The field colours are so restful - but two blobs of red spoil it for me.

Thank you Snap Shot. When I saw this scene I knew I had to get things lined up and leading the eye to that lit-up glen across the loch.

Yes, those floats are rather eye-catching, aren't they. But they're such a natural part of that environment, I was happy to leave them in. Thanks for commenting, Delderby.

That kind of landscape takes on a co-ordinated look at this time of year, and the colour of the boat (if not the floats) seems to fit in fine. Thanks for looking, Rathyatra.

It is a lovely scene, very nicely composed .. except I do wish the bow of the boat was turned more toward you so it would be more of a leading element and not a blocking element. Colour, exposure and focus are spot on. Nicely done.

Yes, that would have been nice, but I wanted the shoreline to act as a leading line leading the eye across the loch to the distant glen. If I'd gone further left, the leading line of the boat would have hidden the shoreline, and without any interference from me, the boat wouldn't have been pointing towards the glen. If, as they say, the eye tends to move from left to right, I don't see the boat as being a blocking element, and from the back of the boat it's shoreline-loch-glen.

I noticed that dilemma when I commented. ;-) Too bad I wasn't there to help you rearrange the furniture ... women are great at that.

I agree with you R.G. These days the floats are as much part of the environment as the boats.

Thanks for looking in, Graham. I know your preference for shooting "as seen". There was some debris on the beach that I was happy to lose, but the floats say "maritime living" as much as the boat and lobster pots.

Thank you Paul. Haven't seen your face for a while. Have you just discovered this section or have you been away? (I don't have time to frequent the Gallery as much as I'd like).

Hi, up there in Bonny Scotland. I've been around, just very busy work wise. New studio lights to arrive and assemble tomorrow :-) :-) . Oops, this is the Critique Section so better not dally. Actually, getting back to your picture - the mood is all the more appealing to me because of the lowering sky. That, along with those wide open spaces give the Scottish landscape such a haunted, lonely feel. Sort of desolate but in an appealing way (bit like some areas of Ireland). The boat defines the foreground too which enhances the overall depth for me. And the muted colours top it off
