Like image #2 the best (compositionally). But I really don't like snakes. Or Spiders! I know, wussy for a Biologist.

Got two big ones that hide in my bushes. Once in a while I can go out and lay in the grass and get a photo or two. I know they can bite if you provoke them, otherwise they slither away at a great speed.

My experience is if you don't make them feel cornered they will leave you alone, otherwise you better be quick.

Our Old English Bulldog was faster than the black racer that lived under our porch. She put some serious holes in the snake before we could separate them, but a year later, the racer was still around complete with quite a few scars on its sleek body. :(
