The drops have been a recurring theme with any edits that included a lot of contrast in the sky. They're barely visible in the original. If you can't see them in your own edit, have a look at Roadking's (and others). I'm assuming it's drizzle on the lens because I only have the one lens on that camera, so sensor spots don't seem very likely, although I do believe that dust can get sucked in when you zoom back and fore.

Ah, yes, if I zoom in to my rendered image I can see a few, but not near as many or as obvious as in Roadking's. I would imagine that has a lot to do with the type and contrast settings, etc., used in the individual's PP'ing scheme. Yes, I am constantly learning new things in photography and in PP'ing.

Thank you,
Tom

Nice effort, Tom. The distant stuff is a challenge to get clear, and you've done a fine job.

I was making good use of my lens cloth due to the drizzle, but it looks like some drops got missed :? .

Well, I just had to make a couple adjustments due to your reply. I tried to doctor it up just a tad, taking out the rain drops and tried to sharpen the background (distant mountains) a tad. I think that may do it for me on this one - at least today. Thanks again for posting the original. It has been fun and a good learning exercise.

My computer. I let it have eight rounds of 9mm parabellum from a range of six feet but it still refused to upload or do anything. I think I'll trade it in for a new model.

Second attempt: gathering storm. I wanted to get the clouds rolling over the hills; with my shaky hands I failed miserably.

Yes, the colour and details are definitely a bit stronger in this one. To my mind the trick is to be able to do that without it looking garish or over-processed (and you succeeded). Pity about that drop that you missed.....
(OK, just kidding with that last point  ).

Not at all - a very brooding atmosphere, Shakey.

I had a computer like that once. It refused to do what I wanted it to do no matter how angrily I spoke to it  .

Happy memories, I hope. I'm just back from a stay in Skye where we used to go for the occasional holiday when I was younger. My grandfather's house is still standing and in use, but I'm not sure who by (I think it might be a daughter of the oldest son who would have inherited it, croft and all).

Wonderful memories R.G. My cousin had a boat not unlike the one the one in your shot. We would set a drift net then check and re-bait the lobster pots before pulling the drift back in.

Happy times but it could get a bit choppy in The Minch in such a small boat. The people of the Hebrides are so friendly and I'm pleased to hear you have connections there yourself.

Thanks to the colonies (and the clearances), half the world has connections there :-) . Very humble origins, but good, down-to-earth people for the most part.

R.G., this one was fun!! I love everything about your shot! I first cropped and resized it in Elements, sent it over to Topaz Adjust and then into NIK Color Efex and used the Polaroid Transfer filter.

Glad you're having fun, Angela. The way the sky's come out is pretty spectacular  . My preference would be for the lighter one because, being a bit on the lazy side, I don't have to strain to see the details :) .

Thanks R.G., after I posted the first one, I thought it was too dark also, that's why I lightened it. And yes, I always have fun, thanks for posting!!

Ran with the bleak, old film feel of this one.
