It is an excellent bridge camera, which extends to 600mm. An superb lens designed by Leica. In low light it is best not to exceed 400 ISO as noise becomes evident. (This can be overcome with Noiseware Community, a free software program extremely good at eliminating noise.)
The camera has many options so the tutorials and training videos are essential. The manufacturers handbook is a joke, totally hopeless.
The go to guy for free training videos is Graham Houghton. His videos can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFoIf_3ex-YIxsyKHN7DlBdZsMcAkWvot

I believe the FZ 200 is a pretty good camera, but the replacement, which is the F Z 300 is quite a bit better.

and almost double in price. FZ300 has a better viewfinder, 4K if you need it recording, water and dust resistant. I find a FZ200 more than sufficent for my needs and if I was going to spend that range of cash I would jump at a FZ1000. Either way it is what you need and what you can afford. There are a few opinions in the Panasonic blog where a FZ300 was bought after selling a FZ200 and the gentleman was trying to sell the FZ300 to go back to the 200.....just saying
