Bird ID Please

Finally got smart & set my camera with a remote release up on a tripod aimed at the suet feeder. Now my wife can get pictures of visitors when I'm not home. Neither of have ever seen what looks like a Cowbird with a blue head. The best I can come up with is a Common Grackle. Can some of our bird experts confirm the ID/

That is the bluest head I've seen on a 'Common' Bronzed Grackle. Around here they're more purple than blue.

Grackles are pretty birds but they will eat ALL of that suet in a short time. They are pigs.

We've had less problem with the Grackles & suet than the Red Bellied Woodpeckers. It may be because we're not seeing very many of them.

That is a Common Grackle. In certain light the head will be a teal blue. They even have some violet and some brown further down the body. Foathog was right about them cleaning out your suet. Stock up.

Grackles are not particular when it comes to food. They even eat dry dog food.

I can believe it. We raised several Blue Jays on soaked dog kibble and cat kibble. They thrived on it.
