Change your import settings from "Copy as DNG" to "Copy"

I prefer LRCC to change files to .DNG on import, and at same time save the .CR2 files to my backup drive, thus giving me the best of both worlds.

I assume you meant drives (plural). Surely you are backing up to more than one location?

I won't speak for WF2B, but in my case, I have 3 backup drives that are updated weekly, at least.

During LR's import, if converting to DNG, you can specify a location to place the original NEF/CR2 files from the camera. They are imported into LR and converted to DNG as expected, but a second copy is made of the original raw file. I assumed he meant he simply placed those copies on his backup drive, which is what I do. Then, over the weekend, that backup drive is backed up to another external drive. On Wednesday evening, I bring from work my third backup drive and backup the backup drive to it and take it back to the office on Thursday.

I back up immediately on import to a different drive than my originals, then on a daily basis to another drive, and also to Carbonite. I also copy key photos to a thumb drive.
