The first woodpecker is about 9 inches tall; the second is about 6 inches.

Kind of like Arnold and Danny in twins.

Suspect the 1st is a Hairy Woodpecker & the 2nd is a Downy Woodpecker. It's hard to tell them apart other than size.

I agree with Nick. These are probably 2 different types of woodpeckers.

We used to have many woodpeckers come to our feeders. It is often hard to tell the difference unless they are together. The little downey seems to have a different personality/behavior from the hairy too.

The beak is longer on the Hairy.

The Downy is much bolder than the Hairy.
