You will need to find the NIK apps..... they should be standalone apps somewhere... on a Mac they are installed into a NIKApplications folder.

Just add a external editor option for each NIK plugin and it will work just like the other plugins.

Thanks Steve G this worked for me in Lightroom CC, no problems in PS CC

What does NIK do? It is being offered free, so I imagine its next upgrade will debut as a new application at a new price. Across the Atlantic I have been reading about £100 prices.

Hi, This is what I did as I had the same problem. Go to Finder and download the software to your desk top, from there click on it and it will ask you whether you want it in PS or LR, or LRcc. I chose LRcc. And it showed up in Edit in as others have said. You have to tell it where to go, as in my case!

Thanks, Tigerpaws. I thought this would work. I followed your directions. I was not asked where I wanted it installed, but was told it would be installed in PS, LR, BR, and Aperture. I highlighted LR, and installed. As it was installing, I was told it was installing in all four programs. But, alas, it is still NOT in LR.
Or, at least, I can't find it!

I asked this question on a related thread, but received only one response. As I really don't wish to hijack that thread, I am re-posting here.
I downloaded the free Nic software. When it downloaded, it said it was loading it into Photoshop CS6, Lightroom 5.7, Br and Aperture. In PSCS6 it is located in Filters, where it should be, with my other plugins. And, it seems to work fine. However, I cannot find it anywhere in LR5. If I click on a photo in LR, I am asked "Edit in", and all of my previous plug ins are available, but not the Nic software. Same thing if I go to "Photo>edit in"--all of my other plug ins, but no Nic products. If I go to Lightroom>Preferences>External Editors, I have my two designated editors: PS6 and Portrait Pro. If I go to "choose", trying to change my external editor (portrait pro to Nic), Nic does not appear as an option. (I have not tried Br or Aperture, as I will not be using them.)
Any Ideas?
Steve
I asked this question on a related thread, but rec... (show quote)

Aperture I knew it well. RIP. I miss it. LR is no substitute for Aperture when it comes to DAM but LR is still being supported and Adobe actually wants photographers as customers. Moving on...

On my computer (Mac Book Pro) using Lightroom:
(1) you have to be in the Develop module
(2) the Nik Plug-ins are under Photo->Edit In

See attached screen shot.

FWIW - on my Mac, the NIK plugins only appear if I have store presets in catalog unchecked....but then I lose some other things I had set up... so I added the NIK plugins to my EDIT IN settings... works fine because then I can rename them so they sort together amoung my other plugins/edit ins....

If anyone installs the Nik Collection on a Windows 7 system and cannot find the files, this is where the default installation sends the collections.

This is a good catch. I looked and I do have "Store Presets in Catalog" unchecked. But I didn't even know that I had it unchecked so perhaps it is unchecked by default. I don't muck around with defaults unless I have a defined reason for changing them.

But it is good you noticed that and notified other users who may have checked that box.

They are added as external editors - you can add as many and what ever pretty much you need.... Lightroom gives you two external editors, but in the middle section you can add whatever and how many you like....
