In my case I checked to see any if new software updates are available for the operating system and there are not any. I'm on 10.6.7.

10.11.3 is the most recent. I'm using it.

Oops, sorry I was thinking OS X. I just downloaded iOS 9.3 on both my iPad and iPhone.

Yes, I do have Topaz, but I can't remember the last time I used it, and that's not a memory problem. It's been a long time. For free, I can't go wrong. If I don't like it, I'll delete it. If I had bought it for $150 and didn't like it, I'd regret it.

I've grown to like Topaz quite a lot. Denoise, Clarity and Adjust are my real work-horses but I use Lens Effects and Detail quite a lot too. FX needs some polishing, but I find it quicker to use than PSP for applying the filters.

I downloaded Nik and played with it briefly. Of course it would take months of getting comfortable with it to make a fair decision, but my initial impression is that I prefer the Topaz filters. Still, I'll keep them around and play with Nik as time permits. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get FX to recognize the Nik filters, but they do work under PSP.

Yes, this was my findings also. I found the Nik very difficult to figure out and what effects I tried weren't really that great. Topaz is much easier and effective in my opinion. Perhaps that's why it's being given away free, plus Google can do more snooping (for improvements to product only of course)
