The UPS truck came tonight bringing my new Gx8 camera. The batteries were charged (such a little thing-nice) so I could do some limited setup. Seems a little easier than Olympus to set up or it may be because after setting up the Olympus anything would seem simpler. Anyway the camera is larger than the M-5,
M- 10 but not too large. Fits fine without having to add a bottom plate or case. So far so good. Planning on taking it out tomorrow for a test run. I kept an Olympus lens (12-40 mm f 2 8) and a longer Tamron lens (14-150 mm) so at least I have something to work with. For very informal comparison purposes I have images taken with both of these lenses (with the M-5 and M-10) to compare with the Gx8. I'm excited because I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in my quest for a lighter camera and lighter long lens for birding. I knew in advance that I would not be able to carry a 4+ pound lens around. It's all your fault UHH- before participating in this site I wasn't even interested in birding!! Thanks to all the m 4/3 users that helped along the way. Hope tomorrow isn't a bust!
Let's see some of those pictures?

I will-
I've done a lot of the setup and some of the customization- there are functions here that I didn't even know I wanted but now that I know about them I do- I think the touch screen focus and focus assist with picture in picture enhancement will be great.

Same for me. I have an EM-5, but most of my lenses are panasonic -- so I'm particularly interested in the GX-8, with its extra resolution. Eager to hear about your experiences and see some shots.
