For a few years now, I have hoped to get comfortable with & in a photo forum, And hoped that the Hogg was the place. Now I'm asking those of you that may know of OTHER Forums, to make suggestions as to where one might look to for photo info, absent of the absolutely rediculous behaviour of one Rongnongno and his Ilke. If you want an example of his condescending childishness, visit "THE Cutting ROOM". SICK,SICK,SICK.. And evidently supported by this forums' administration. In a move that some might applaud(wrongo, for one) I'm moved to MOVE. NO forum, beats the obscured.. Signing off, but I will look back to see suggested OTHER forums. RJM. A hardy "DIGIT-UP" for rongnongno.. A little man fool.

After being absent from forums for a number of years (my favorite shut down) I settled here after trying 4 or 5 others.

The beauty of UHH is that they have so many sections it is a lot easier to avoid people who annoy you. When you do "bump" into them, it doesn't take much to just ignore their post.

If you can't learn to do that, the only full proof solution is to stay off the internet.

So...I've pulled up the "Cutting Room." What's there so far that's so objectionable?

I would recommend ignoring and not sending a Christmas card if you dislike.

There is a very useful word Ignore!
People can only bother you if you let them.
I go into the attic and take part. Some there are really a pain, they make your problem look like a best friend.
There are now two whose posts I just ignore, no matter what they say, ask or do I just act as if they aren't there. Sometimes it is not easy, I get tempted to show off all those cuss words and phrases in four languages that I picked up in the Army and other places, but for about a month now I have ignored these two.
I enjoy the UHH and will NOT let them ruin it for me.

I hope I have enough self control to stay clear of the controversial threads. I have enough of that stuff on other forums, and will admit I often can dish it out as much as being a target. But I am here for one reason only, to enjoy and expand my knowledge of photography, period.

If anyone finds me drifting over to the dark side -- please reel me in! 8-)

unfortunately there is none, you will have nay sayers and rude posters anywhere you go. just ignore them or join a local photography club if you have one in your area. face to face may fit your needs better

You could go to other forums but sadly, you will fin the same type of people in those too. I agree to just ignore. With such people you should always ask yourself...Are they so important or relevant to even merit loosing my time addressing them? Also ask yourself... Do these clowns have any significant work backing up their "knowledge"? You will find that they DO NOT. Most of these are really sad individuals craving for attention any way they can get it. Giving them any importance will make you fall into their game. For example, he will surely pop up into this thread. I will suggest everyone to just ignore the guy until he just drifts away.

Good luck with your decision.

I'm no help on other forum suggestions. While I haven't posted a lot, I do enjoy reading many of the subject areas. There are 3 or 4 members who I've just learned to completely ignore - we have one in common - see their name and immediately skip to the next comment. There is just too much good information here to give it up because of the 'know nothing' the 'know everything' and the rude trolls. It would be nice to have an 'ignore xxx' option. Maybe each member could have up to 5 they automatically skip?. I'll keep reading (maybe if I didn't follow so many threads I'd have time to do some PP and post more). The 'goofs' will continue to be themselves but everyone else has so much to learn and offer. Best wishes.

Others have already suggested it, but I will emphasize it -- STAY away from this Cutting Edge forum, or any controversial threads. Just don't be tempted. You'll quickly find that the antagonists will fade from your memory. If any insist on trying to draw you out -- ignore them. It won't take long before they leave you alone and go off to easier pickins. Trust me, more respect is given to the one who bites his tongue.

I doubt if you can find a photography forum or any other type of forum where everybody is lovey dovey. Just take what you need and leave the rest. If somebody bugs you, just ignore him.

I'd never been in "the cutting room", but it appears from a cursory glance that he's the police officer over there:

"Moderation
Any post fitting the following description will be deleted w/o notice:
- Personal attack, disparaging comment, direct or implied
- Asking for 'proof'. Find the proof that disproves the thread instead and publish it while staying on topic and avoid personal conflict.
- Posting an image w/o the thread owner permission
- Diverting a thread through long discourse on pointless issues"

BUT! Reading this (Asking for 'proof' ) did help me see how I got myself into trouble with a couple of the iconic experts on "The Hog". (I asked if, what appeared to me to be, an "opinion" was "irrefutable fact".) I'll admit that I'd not participated in a forum for so long that I'd forgotten one of the universal forum verbotens; never question or challenge one of the established "regulars".

Was that your crime over in "The Cutting Room"?

_Van (a rookie)

:D

Flunked high school French, but know just enough to get what you're saying (and to get myself in trouble amongst the French, which I did...several times). Lived in Deutschland for awhile (courtesy, the U.S. Army), so I'm just a tiny bit more comfortable with a few of their words.

BTW; don't know your perspective on Roy Clark's GREAT(est?) song, but those lyrics can really put me into a philosophically nostalgic mood.

Cheers and pleasant thoughts. :-)

I think that basically we're on the same page and know we'll enjoy some new knowledge so long as the tenor is appropriate for us. When it no longer is enjoyable,we'll move on,some more quietly than others.
