Last week I posted a photo of a Sunstar (AKA Sunburst) that was a long way off and my best shot on that day was with a 50mm lens on my Samsung NX500. For this next shot, I got closer to the mountain cutting my distance in half, got the camera setup and waited in the pre-dawn, with the howl of distant Coyote's to remind me that it's still their working hour.
As the sun began to rise behind the mountain, I realized I was in the wrong place so I grabbed my gear and headed out across the desert foothills dragging my cameras, tripods, backpack and water bottle as I went. I was looking at the sun's glow behind the mountain, then turn around and look at the sun's path as it eroded the morning's shadows creeping in my direction. I was able to locate my intended spot and get ready for the moment of truth.
Breathlessly I waited, making slight adjustments to the location and then it happened.... nailed it!
