Yes we actually have at least one and probably more "wetlands" in Tucson although they are man made. Sweetwater Wetlands, Christopher Columbus, Reid and Ft Lowell Parks all have sizable wetland type areas with variety of ducks and birds. And all are free to visit. I am posting a couple of images from Sweetwater Wetlands as it is my favorite and the most like an actual wetlands.
Overview of main pond at Sweetwater
Green Heron with catch
Nothern Shoveler
Great Blue Heron
Great pictures.
And what lovely additions to the city!
Nice pics! Most people think of desert and dry, rocky savanna in around Tucson.
Very nice!!
You reminded me that I have to get back to the Tucson area, camera in hand.
I was there during a couple of short visits to Fort 'Who-gatcha' while I was in the Army. (Ft Huachuca)
My wife has never been out there, and we hope to make it some day. Gotta figure the best time of year.
Again, very nice pictures and information . . .
Looks like and excellent place to find opportunities! That main pond is lovely.
Thanks for sharing. I was just in Tucson and was not aware of these wetlands. On my next visit, I will be sure to stop by.
I keep discovering a bit more about Tucson all the time. If you plan to visit and have a flexible schedule, late fall and late winter to early spring are the best times. Appreciate all the nice comments.
Nice photos all--the first one is my favorite.
Good captures Suntouched.
Thanks for looking and commenting. Images taken with Olympus and Pentax :)
PS- the Great Blue Heron was taken way outside the len's range
How great that Tucson has these wonderful places for the wildlife. Very nice series.
Visited Scottsdale a few years ago and did not see any scenes like this.
Would not expect to see this in Az. Well done suntouched.
