Thank you. I was unsure between the 18-105 and 18-140. It seemed like the 18-140 encompasses what I would be doing most of the time. If I need more I have my 55-300.

I think you will really like it.

And as you said, you ALWAYS have the other focal length lenses available as a fall back depending on the type of photography planned for the day.

ENJOY YOURSELF!!!

Ordered a used lens from B&H yesterday. A Nikon 18 - 105 for my D5500.
I already have an 18-55 and a 55-300, but I always seem to be changing for the range in between.
On my Pentax ME Super I always had my 28-85 lens which I used 90% of the time.
Hope the 18-105 works as I think it will and be my go to lens.

I bought the d7000 in 2011 and the was the kit lens offered at the time I have enjoyed it very much good luck

Had an 18-105 and loved it. Wanted a little more reach so, replaced it with an18-140, which rarely comes off the D7100 now. 18-105/18-140, great spread. You'll love it.
Happy shooting!

You know, for someone who is ALWAYS complaining about the posts people put in this forum you sure do spend an awful lot of time here.

If it makes you sooooo unhappy to read the threads, why keep doing it? :?: :?:

I purchased a used 18-140 lens from B & H last year. It was like brand new and works great. Good luck.

I LOVE the 18-140 that came with my D7100. Used it yesterday for a state swim meet at ISO 5000 and shutter speed 1/320 and got great results. Also use it for candids at schools plus dances and other candid events. It covers the perfect range for inside events. I'm sure you'll love your 18-105, too.

Yep the lens is great for a walk around. I just shot Lacrosse at my grandson's game. How about sharing your swimming photos.

That is one of the better Nikon kit lenses. I've had three on two different cameras. My daughter borrowed one camera and broke the lens, so I got another. I love my 18-200 vrII, but the 18-105 is a great lens for not much money. (You can get a used one for $150 without even trying)

Thanks, Jules.
All were shot at ISO 5000 - light conditions were pretty crappy and the place was packed so not much maneuvering. Probably should have gone higher but I hate to shoot over ISO 3200. Don't remember choosing F7.1 so must have bumped settings. I mostly stay at 5.6 with 1/320 or faster.
1st one F7.1, 1/320, 112mm
2nd one F5.6, 1/500, 140mm
3nd one F6.3, 1/320, 32mm

Donna: If your ever worried about to much noise going iso 5000 or higher, try Noiseware Community Edition. It is a free noise removal program.

I'll make him really unhappy. Just ordered a D500 and it's not even shipping for 2 months ... along time to watch for the USP guy :)
