I am interested in purchasing a wireless remote control for my Nikon d90. Does anyone have any suggestions? A good type or a bad one to stay away from purchasing. I see various prices. I know how this question can go many directions. For example, get one that works! don't buy one that is broke! Seriously suggest. Thank you. I enjoy this site and find a great deal of humor from various discussion but I would like positive advice.
My second thought is, do I want to use cable or a cord instead? What are the advantages or disadvantages? Please reply.

Yongnuo from Amazon $35 and free shipping. Comes with the shutter release cable AND it will work as a remote flash trigger as well :) two for the price of one! I have 4 of these and they work great. Note they are NOT iTTL and when you have a flash mounted the power switch can be a pain to get at...

I don't think that was what you wanted, those are for a flash system. You want the Nikon ML-L3 wireless remote. Get it almost anywhere for $15. Aftermarkets can be had for around $4 for your D90.

They will do both, MT. Uses radio instead of infrared like the ML-L3.

Thank you.. I think you all understand what I want and the information you have suggested is what I have been considering. I think I am on the right track. I want to be able to set up my camera and move away from it and still be able to take a picture by using remote control or a cable connection...Thanks again.

Again this site has been helpful for this beginner. I read most topics Dailey and find it very interesting and knowledgeable.

Dwayne50021,
I recently purchased this one. It does it all. Both wireless and wired, plus you have a built in timer for delayed shots, time lapse, or just timing long exposures.

It was only $33.14. Here's the address...http://www.ebay.com/itm/251029630563?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Now I must say here that I am very pleased with this purchase, although the cable for the wired part was missing. I am told that is being corrected.

The timer and the wireless part work perfectly with my D90. Hope this helps.

I thought the same thing until I bought some similar units from Calumet. Amazing what technology can do these days.

Same here on the Yongnuo device - have one and it works flawlessly - wired and wireless. The timer is easy to use and supports many timing modes.

Yep:

For the price it may be worth getting just for the cool timer capabilities but if you don't need the timer I would go for the model that doubles as a remote flash trigger.
