I recently made a photo book for my son, and I had Adoramapix do the printing. This was the largest book I have done yet, measuring 8" X 10" with 56 pages. I sent it to them on 2/9 and received it on 2/12. Pretty fast. It turned out beautiful, as usual.

If you haven't done a photo book, you really should. I generally do the 8 X 8" size and add pages as I go along. I never use the preset templates, preferring to arrange the pictures on my own. It's an excellent way to preserve important pictures, and they make nice gifts.

I have been ready to delve into photo books as well. Jerry, what is the learning curve on the software? I will eventually try a Graphistudio book, but am slowly going through the video tutorials.

Thanks Jerry for the shout out! Make sure to share with me your book when you receive it, would love to see it. I prefer to do my own photo books as well without the templates.

Jaynsave - it's all drag and drop and it's on our servers so nothing to download -- very intuitive. We also have Youtube videos and free webinars on the basics of book making with our PixPublisher. When you are ready to order your book - drop me a line at libby@adoramapix.com I'll make sure to take care of ya!

Do you add words or just photos? Also do you "bleed" the pages or allow for a border? Thanks.

I've done two books with Adoramapix. Easy Peasy! They do a great job, and great turn around time!

Jerry I agree 100%. Adorama is is the only place where I get my prints done. I did a book for a wedding I shot and the clients loved it. I also did one of my granddaughters Birthday party last year and gave it to my daughter. The metal prints are excellent also. The only printer for me I will be a life long customer.

You can add words, but I didn't use any in this book - just on the cover and edge. I did some bleeds, but mostly narrow borders.

First, you get all your pictures ready - processed. Then you import them into Adorama site. From there, it's just drag and drop. One "problem" is sizing and proportions, just like any printing or framing. Trying to force a rectangular picture into a square space will cause difficulties, so plan ahead.

On Wed, Feb 17, there is a free webinar from Adorama - 8:30 PM EST.

jerryc41, what do you use for layout, since you don't use adorama pressets?

I use the blank page and drag the picture onto it. From there, I can resize it to whatever I want. Clicking on Tools > Snap to Grid will make it easier to line up pictures. You can even overlap images for a nice effect.

Agreed.

I've done several to commemorate certain events in life. They really look nice when finished.

I usually wait for a sale :)

 Both big and small books make perfect thank-you gifts after staying with friends. Take your time composing and have somebody else proofread before publishing.

Have thought about doing a book. What is a bleed?
