NIK file size test with Photoshop

Ok, I just took this image, sent it from LR to PS, and did all my NIK stuff from there. The tools returned different layers to PS. When I was finished, I deleted all the layers except the final one, and saved it back to LR.

The file size was some 244 MB...

Then I went back to PS, and flattened this single-layer image. As far as I could tell, all it did was change the name to 'background'. Saved it back to LR again.

The file size was 105 MB...

I was going to upload them both, and ask people to try and spot any differences, but the file size of the exported jpeg are identical, to the byte. They *have* to be the same - they had exactly the same export-menu settings, I didn't change anything. What the heck, here they both are!

So, it seems that the act of flattening an image - even a single-layer image - in PS has a pretty dramatic result on file size. I'm not sure I understand the logic of that, but still...

If anyone *can* see any differences between these 2 images, please let me know!

Oh, there are quite a few insects busy on that flower, so count this as a flower shot *and* an insect shot! Not exactly macro, however...

I can't see any difference, Phil, but then, apart from a little tweaking, I do very little PP. I really like the picture/s though. Well done. :-D :-D

Both look nice and detailed. The insects too are sharply defined.
