I do like the camera and lens plus the extender for getting high quality and sharp photos. It is a costly combination, but worth every penny to me.
It's hard to find a lens like this Canon 100-400 II that will focus from 2.5 feet to infinity in a lighter, smaller, extremely fast focusing and great stabilizer, etc. compared to the larger and heavier zoom lenses. I can hand hold this lens very easy to get insect, squirrel, eagle and moon shots and everything in between. A great all-around lens.
Thank you, DLH13.

The day was foggy when I photographed these 3 Red Squirrels in different trees in our city park. My peanuts help them to relax and pose for me, because normally they are very energetic.
The distance varied from 25 to 40 feet for all 3 shots. I used 560mm.
Please use the downloads.

Really nice Job Regis, they look as though you weren't the only one tempting them with peanuts.

It's a popular city park by a large lake, so many people bring some peanuts and nuts to give to the squirrels, especially young children. We don't have a zoo here in the city of Coeur d' Alene (pop. 47,000). Fortunately, there is a lot of wildlife in our area to see.
Thank you very much, jwt.

It looks like he or she has eaten too many peanuts, but they do not hibernate for the Winter, so they are always looking for food.
Thank you for your nice reply, Don.

The squirrels are one of my favorite animals to photograph. I know they are hungry this time of the year, so I always have peanuts to give them so they will stop and chew on them while I try to get a good capture.
Thank you very much, Rick.
