Fr. Jozef invited me to visit his family farm about thirty minutes from Ljubljana. His home is in a small village in the mountains. Not certain if it is considered part of the Julian Alps or not. It was an exquisitely beautiful place. After stopping at the house the three of us went for a walk up the side of the mountain. Some of the most perfect weather of my time here. We walked for about an hour or so. I lagged behind a lot. Both Fathers tolerated "Jack the Shooter" with good humor.
A house in the village. Recycling day?

The colored squares to the left and the white boxes in front are apiaries. I've seen apiaries before but never built into the house.

One of the few shots for which I used something other than the 25 mm prime. It would have taken us an hour to walk to this church. As I was taking the photo the Angelus bells sounded. The peals echoed far and wide.

We were about 500 yards from the back door of the house when I shot this.

Ljubljana is known for fog and clouds. The white fog in the distance is hanging over Ljubljana.

Been a while since I've seen a functioning well.

Kielbasa curing in the root cellar or cool room of the house. I grew up eating (Polish) kielbasa. It is the sole reason I would never become a vegetarian. Add some (red) horseradish and all is right in the world. We had the missing link when we arrived at the house. Of course after the walk there was lunch. Fantastic food.

Thank you. The scenery here is almost beyond description. It snowed in Ljubljana last night. Sun out now and is melting. I can see the mountains we visited from the room. Shrouded in fog at the moment.

Thank you very much for the compliment. I've enjoyed the time here. Chances are high, depending on my superior, that I will return in September for several months. There is plenty to do here even without speaking much Slovenian at this point (though I will be studying it upon returning.)

Thanks for looking and commenting. Wonderful place.
Thank you for noticing. Given that I leave in two days I remain to set a date for a return.

Thanks for looking. The visit was one of those unexpected moments that popped up. Fr. Jozef has been very kind and helpful despite limited English. Will post more from this outing later.

Thank you for looking and commenting. There is probably a great deal more snow there today as it snowed here over night. A perfect day.
Wonderful job on your narrative and your images, FrJack. You captured the essence of this beautiful area very well.

Thanks for your comments. Beautiful does not do Slovenia justice. And, I've only been in three unique locations. Bled, the coast and a few other places remain to be visited. Next trip.
