Watch Hillary fake another timely concussion.

Her followers will fall to their knees and beg the State Department not to release an more e-mails.

There are always power players within the party. The party chair Reince Priebus will have a great influence as will many others including Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, and other long term members. There is no way Trump comes out of a brokered convention. First he would most likely lose the general election, second if his admin was a total disaster, and would be, the party would be badly damaged. Third, and this is really the big one, the party hates him. He has always leaned way to far left and what he is saying now is just an act. Cruz would not stand a chance either, everybody hates him. In the general he would go down in a historic defeat.

A brokered convention is about picking somebody who can win. Who that guy (or gal) would be is a mystery to me but it would be interesting.

I believe that in my life time, providing I live another 20 years, the republican party will split in two. You will have something to the far right similar to the tea party and something centralist that will draw in moderate democrats. I also believe that the Democrat will start moving more towards fiscal conservatism as millennials become more influential.

Sanders, and his brand of socialistic learning is a flash in the pan, although his plans to reign in banking and wall street is probably going to grow into a political movement that will force politicians to act.

The Tea Party is not a political party.........yet. The republicans that far to the right eventually are going to break away. Different primaries, different leadership, a total break. Our present two party system has survived a long time and the electorate has lost faith in both of them. Change, while often painful is sometimes necessary. Part of me hopes that I am wrong but things can't go on like this much longer.

Nothing against Kasich personally. In fact I kind of like him and I like his story. I should have been more clear and stated if he gets the nomination we will be in for a shock. A couple of reasons. 1. A lot of Republican voters would stay home like they did with Romney in 2102. Which brings me to reason number 2. He is too much like Romney in that he is milquetoast. It sounds funny to say this, but he is just too nice. The Republicans need someone running that will kick ass and take names because as you have already seen the dems will do ANYTHING and say ANYTHING to get elected and remain in power. Two weeks into the campaign Kasich would be chopped up and displayed on a wooden platter. A wordy way of saying we do not need another Romney or McCain. I believe Kasich can get the nomination but he cannot be elected.

SBW, thanks for the explanation. Too put it bluntly somebody told me the other day that I put too much emphasis on things like facts and logic and that voters are just to fucking stupid to care (their words, not mine). I see your point but I hope that after the past 8 years of lack of leadership or ideas form the WH people would want substance over style. I am always the dreamer. I don't think the Hildabeast comes off very well when she attacks and that didn't work for her against Obama. I hope that anyone who opposes her in the general election would benefit from her personality or lack there of. Of course she could get indicted and all my dreams would come true.

To be clear, I think Kasich would make a pretty good president. I just do not think he could be elected so we may never know. Aside from his personal traits and his executive experience he is from a state that the Republicans almost have to carry to get elected. That by itself should give him plenty of currency. I can tell you this; although I might prefer a different Republican candidate if Kasich is the nominee I will not be sitting home, he will get my vote. The only other thing that I can think of that might make Kasich a stronger candidate is that if he has a strong running mate. A very conservative running mate such as Rubio or Cruz for example. It is not going to take long to find out!

I have read a lot of name thrown around as possible VP candidates but there doesn't seem to be a clear front runner. Rubio, Nikki Haley, Brian Sandoval, Rob Portman, Kelly Ayotte. While I have always been able to predict the winner of the Presidential race months beforehand I have never once been able to guess who would be picked as the running mate for either party. If I had to guess who they will pick I would say Haley. Young, conservative, woman (shouldn't matter but it will), good public speaker, minority, and a reputation of being pretty tough.

Kelly Ayotte might be good. She is impressive. In most of your description of a good running mate you are describing the two I suggested, Rubio or Cruz.
The only question I would have about Kelly Ayotte getting into the fray is that she appears to be very dedicated to her family and time with them is important. Come to think of it, she would be an asset on the ticket with any of the potential nominees.
I guess it would be amusing to see how democrats attempt to destroy her character and attempt they will.
