He's a really crazy icon. There was a ball team in Richmond named the Braves. When they left Richmond this fellow was relocated to the building pictured. I think it is fitting looking out over the James river. Thanks for commenting Doddy.

Wow! I imagine a lot has changed. It is a very youthful city now with many different vibes. Plenty of culture and great dining experiences as well as wonderful history and outdoors events. We go at least every other week it's about 1.5hrs away. Thanks for commenting FM.

It was a great city to grow up in in the 40s and 50s-way more layed back than I'm sure it is now. I was a Jazz musician, and I missed the development of the downtown area where music and restaurants now thrive- The memories I have of my 17 years growing up in Richmond far exceed the 50 plus- plus years in NYS.
I recently transferred a lot of my photos from that time to DVD, and enjoy going to them. It was a fun time…

My father-in-law is a jazz double bassist of considerable acclaim by way of the President's Own. He has played with everyone from Old Blue Eyes to Ella Fitgerald. His stories of the 38 years at the White House are priceless. We still enjoy seeing him play at the Prime Rib restaurant in Washington D.C. Going strong at 78 years young!
