7D MarkII or the 5D MarkIII

I have a 7D Mark II that is less than 2 months old. It is a nice camera. I am considering selling it and getting a 5D MarkIII for this reason. If I read the reports right, the 5D Mark III is a better all around camera. I guess I am looking for higher IQ and not so much as 10fps.

Your thoughts.

I use both and most of the time I have no reservations of picking up either one. Generally I have the mid range lens either the 24-105 or the 24-70 on the 5d3 and either the 70-200 or the 100-400 on the 7d2 and pick up the right one for the reach at the given moment. The 5d3 however is my go to body and gets the majority of the work.

It all depends on what you want to do with it. The two cameras serve different needs. For most people, all things being equal (which they NEVER are) the 5D will be the better choice. The 7DII is really for action shooters. If you can afford the 5D (and the more expensive lenses that maximize its potential) go for it.

My thoughts involve reading comparisons by people who do this all the time.

I am waiting for the 5D Mark IV at which point I will probably get rid of both my 7D Mark II and my 6D. I don't think that I would purchase the Mark III so close to the Mark IV release.

As dlmeltz has said, the 7D II is a great action/ sports camera because of the sophisticated autofocus and high fps, but the 5D III has all the advantages of a full frame (lower noise at high ISO and better dynamic range), and it's autofocus system is quite sophisticated also (and the fps spec is no slouch either). Regarding the rumored upcoming 5D IV, not sure when it's coming, but will likely be available only as new (not refurbished) for at least 6 months, with a price similar to a new 5D MK III ($2800), while a good, low shutter count 5D MkIII can be had now for approximately $1,000 less.

If you don't need the fps and want to increase IQ, why don't you go straight to the 5s?? Three times the mp makes a HUGE difference!!! Especially if you gotta crop! ;-)
