Didn't happen for me either. I was in Eagle River, Alaska. I sat up on a mountain for a few hours and just played with my camera. I shot a bit of the city lights way down below but nothing wonderful came of that. I was sure disappointed. :( Way too many clouds!

We had clouds as the moon was coming up, but the clouds cleared away early. The size is what I was hoping to capture, but it didn't look any bigger to me - I was disappointed. I took a few pics anyway, but a full moon never seems to photograph well, let alone an extra bright moon.

At that distance it is hard to tell. 14-18% isn't very big. But if you could see it breaking the horizon, it did look bigger. And you are right about the full Moon. Hard to get the details.

Why is your moon upsidedown? Coriolis effect?

Very hazey here in Clearwater, Fl. This is the best I could do about 1am this morning when the clouds opened enough for some shots. Both shot with the Bigma at 500mm on a D7000 and tripod.

It's strange how the moon looks so much bigger near the horizon. Although it didn't look larger, it certainly was bright! Depending on the angle and cloud cover, it kept turning off the street light in front of our house. I took about 150 shots. I wish I had taken more. Maybe one would have turned out. No, I did get some that were pretty good. I'm easily satisfied. I learned that exposures of several seconds show too much "moon travel."

Jerry, they stand on their heads over there. ;) The moon does rotate, even tho most folks don't think so. I wish we could get folk from around the world to post some. Would be cool to see the different views.

Moon rise last night blocked by clouds. Bummer. This morning said goodbye to super moon.
Moon set 5/6/2012 over the public boat launch and Port Gardner Bay in Everett, WA.
