There are only two birds that I know of that do actually visit once a year. The Cedar Waxwing and the White-crowned Sparrow.
Cedar Waxwing- starts arriving in late November. Nikon 80-400mm.
White-crowned Sparrow- starts arriving in early November. Nikon 70-300mm.
White-crowned Sparrow- Shooting through a hole in the leaves in the fog. Nikon 70-300mm.

Small point, there is an area along the coast of California where the White Crowned sparrows are year round, and I live in the southern tip of that area.
Are they just a winter bird for you down there or just in the area where you are at?

Robert pointed out that where he is in California they are year around. Where I am I only seen them once a year.

Great shots! Love both of your lenses. They both reach out to bring the subject in close. Mahalo for sharing.

We have a flock of Cedar Waxwings that reside in our area year round, I always enjoy seeing them fly over our house as they shimmer in the sunlight. I'm located near the Sacramento area so not really close to the the ocean.
