Just had an amazing three day adventure with gregoryd45, and ol' Frank with his charming wife, Carol.

We spent three rainy days exploring the Everglades in southwest Florida. It was my first time to visit that area.

While the actual species seen where no different from those here in on the Gulf coast, the numbers sure were different as was the habitat.

I would like to share some of what I saw - this will take several days.

Hope that you will enjoy my photos.

Great images!!! what a difference a few mile make.

What a series Larry! Looks like a place I'd love to visit again now that I have the equipment to photograph it properly. You have some outstanding shots here. The Spatterdock shots are very nice but the Black-crowned Night Heron is my favorite. The composition (IMHO) is perfect. You've really captured the beauty of the glades.

Well, docshark, I owe you for identifying the yellow flower as a spatterdock. I had no idea what it was, just assumed that it was some form of water lily.

I've never been to the 'glades before, but I guarantee that I will go back - hopefully during some better weather.

Thank you for your most generous compliments - see you in the 'glades.

Had some clear weather on Tuesday, but got worse and worse. Later, I will post photos taken in the rain and fog. The camera and lens were covered by an Optech Rainsleeve (cheap and effective)

Great set, Madman. #7 and #10 were my preferred shots. Outstanding.

Thank you Shakey. I'm glad that you looked in and commented.

There were so many birds there - just unbelievable. Then same birds as I see close to home, but in incredible numbers. We were hoping to see some burrowing owls, but the rain kept them underground.
