Thanks everybody for your replies. Apparently there are a number of ways to approach the problem. I'll end up buying the software and doing it that way, no doubt. Spider was suggested and from what I can find out it seems to do quite well. I'll probably give it a try.

Try entering "monitor calibration" into SEARCH at the top of the forum header.

Guessing by your on line name and your avatar that you may be (or have been) a commercial aviation pilot in Great Britain. Am I close? BTW, I use color munki and it seems to work well.It compensates for ambient lighting in the room you are working in so if you change the lighting or move to a different location, you need to recalibrate.

I am looking at a couple different models of Data Color and Color Munki. I notice that the Data Color Spyder5 PRO and Elite have saved ambient light settings (3 & 5 settings respectively). Does the color Munki have these ? It seems that you could have settings saved for when daylight enters the windows of the room that your monitors are in and one for the evening when no light comes in. Instead of re-calibrating for varying degrees of ambient light at different times of the day ??

It can detect ambient light changes over time and can automatically rebuild your stored profile.

So do you leave it connected and it automatically changes your setting or does it notify you it has changed ??? NOT getting this !!

I use a spider 4 calibration device for my monitors (dual). When printed I have not observed any issue.
 Same here. And I commonly print for architects that are super picky about color.
