Welcome to the forum, Tegrey! Are you asking for suggestions regarding this shot? (if not, please forgive my misunderstanding your comment)
One thing that could add interest to this image is to shoot in different light. Try different times of day to see how light (low angle of sun) and shadows can bring interest.
You might also try closer shots of a piece of ice and water that you find particularly appealing. Not really a need for "documentary" in this case, I think.
Be careful to keep the camera level, so that water doesn't slope :)
Are you doing post processing/editing of your images? A bit of contrast and brightening can liven up this shot, as well.
