Can someone suggest a good editing program......it's driving me nut trying to find one that works well and that I can understand
Photoshop Elements 10 is out now. Photoshop is a good program and there are plenty of free tutorials on the internet fot it
Photoshop elements wins hands down for me. Works well for beginners with some auto settings and guided editing yet has some fairly complex things that can be done too. You will find that PSE 9 may be a lot cheaper than version 10. You would need to check on this. I use 9 and it's fabulous. I have previously used 4 and 9 has a lot of better things. I don't imagine there would be that huge of a difference between 9 and 10. Amazon.com has, as far as I have been able to determine, the best prices. They will also let you know if there is a manufacturers rebate available.
If you are looking for simple and fast editing then lightroom 3 is your program. How ever PSE 9 and CS5 will allow you more creativity, but is a little more complicated to use at first.
There is GIMP which is free open source and a very good editing program.
I have PSE 9 and now have Photoshop CS5. I don't find either of them super easy to use. I've purchased Scott Kelby's books on both and they really help. Kelby's books just tell you how to do specific things step by step, kinda like a recipe book. You can get sneak peeks at the actual text of the books on Amazon to see if they might work for you.
I agree with you. I have Lightroom 3 and it does a lot and everything is easy. Also there is a ton of tutorials on you tube.

I've used Elements 2,4,6 and 8. As well as I currently use Lightroom 3 and CS5.
For ease of use, Lightroom 3 hands down. The sliders make it all easy to understand and use. Lightroom allows you to open and edit RAW format images.
Cost wise Elements gives you the biggest bang for your buck.
Thank you all for your suggestions and recommendations.....you've given me lots to think about.....
Will Elements 10 also edit video or would I have to buy an update or additional programs...????
