75 million people are now in the middle of a blizzard.
I have a court yard in front of my house. It has a 4 ft wall around it. The snow is over the wall. The wind just keeps blowing more on top of it. Im beginning to think I live in Alaska. I dont know when I'll ever get out.

So I know many of you are also stuck in the house. What to do?
I took everything out of my camera bag, Im in the process of cleaning all the lenses . I have the oil out and I'll clean and oil the tripod legs and head. I'll clean the mirror in the camera.

Then I think I'll continue uploading pics to the cloud and arranging them in my Ext HD..
I would love to get some pics outside but I can't get out the door.

so what are you doing in the blizzard of 2016?

Cooling my heels, no blizzard here (Florida) but still 'cooler'...

I just hope you have taken a minimal precaution to survive a few days, including medication if you use any.

I remember when we were in NE... The pipe for used water froze so we had to wait over a week before being able to flush... We took showers and went to the bathroom on base or in a shopping mall near by... We were ready for anything but that!!!

Waiting for the true believers to announce it is caused by Global Warming.

My Grandmother, born 1898, used to tell me about walking to the country school house in a straight line across the fields and fences the snow was so deep. In Western Kentucky.
This world has seen it before, it will see it again.

I am in So Cal, 60s and possible showers today. Reading, editing photos, waiting for the garage to call and tell me my car is ready.

Coolin' my heels because our hardwood floor is a bit chillier than usual. We're getting weather in the 40's during the days and 30's at night here in Dallas with this cold snap going on. Once it's over we should be back to golf temps...at least in the 50's and some 60's.

I'm from Michigan, so I've been through what you're getting. I never minded the snow. What I didn't like was gray days from November through February.

I'm sorting/discarding/organizing photos in between reading the posts here.
In central KS it's 25°F - Foggy - Ice/Frost on trees - Windy - 2" snow on the ground -
A good day to stay indoors...

The weather is horrid here. Actually sprinkled this morning!
But no worries, I'm at my place of business for an hour then off to my regular job for 4 hours, then back to my business for 4 hours. After I get off I gotta go and groom my race course till it's too dark to see. I put on a Cyclo Cross Race Series every January and part of Feb. Then I pray for horrible weather so the racing will be fun!!!! I race and shoot my event! Keeps me outa the house!
Then, if I have time, I'm gonna make a photography target for comparing lenses that I've been trying to get to for a year so, so I can share it here.
Eventually, I'm gonna have ta eat I guess!!!!
Anyway, the blizzard hasn't slowed me down one bit!!!! NOW, if I can just remember where I put my sunglasses, I'll be all set!!!!!
Have wonderful, blizzardly day. ;-)

Just finished shoveling my driveway with about 14 inches of snow. Took a few pictures around my house this a.m. Think I'll go out and take a walk around my neighborhood down by the hiking path and lake to take some pictures of the snow. I'll enjoy looking at them next July.

Watching it snow..........

Snow blower in the AM to make a path. Over a foot so far, but with the wind (gust to 50 MPH), it is difficult to measure correctly.

Strange, but nice, question and, since I've a few minutes to spare, I'll contribute .....

Sorry to hear about your blizzard conditions and trust that most of you will deal with it with aplomb and come safely out the other side.

Here in the UK it's relatively mild, temperature has risen a little for the weekend and there's NO snow - sorry !

I've just responded to a UHH member's question about "mirrorless" cameras - a photographic area where the USA really needs to catch up - but, despite my photographic leanings, I'm about to go out for an evening of dancing Argentine Tango - for me it's a combination of dancing (really nice to hold so many lovely women in your embrace) and taking pics, for everyone's enjoyment, of the event.

No snow. Great weather for the time of year .... even here ..... and much to look forward to !

Hope y'all cope with your snow !

Actually, global warming in the Pacific has a lot to do with the winter weather patterns that we're getting.

It's going to get down near freezing tonight and it's a big story.

The children's Gasparilla parade was today, temps in the mid 50s, the TV people covering the parade were whining all day about how cold it was. I guess I'll have another beer.

If it wasn't for global warming, or climate change, wouldn't we still be int he ice age of 25,000 years ago?

Only 12,000 to the end of the last period of glaciation they reached their greatest extent (roughly the Ohio River) 22,000 years ago.
